Objective

Create brand awareness for unknown cybersecurity services firm Alagen

Solution

Despite nearly 8 years of existence, Alagen was unknown, even within their industry in their home market. As their first Marketing Director, we established an identity centered around expert cybersecurity services. To further cement this positioning, we built a campaign labeling each Alagen consultant as AlaGENIUS — a strategy that not only elevated employees, but also engaged them in the campaign helping increase advocacy and reach. By combining the Alagen name with “genius”, we nicely emphasized our expertise while boosting company name recognition. 

The campaign featured: 

  • “Ask an AlaGENIUS” social media videos, also featured on the website, in which employees shared cybersecurity guidance related to key services. 
  • Very popular AlaGENIUS T-shirts for all employees. 
  • Establishing the exclusive AlaGENIUS trophy, a traveling trophy awarded to just one employee each quarter for “awesomeness in the line of duty.” As a bonus, the shared trophy helped connect the largely remote team. Each recipient was honored internally and celebrated externally on social media. 
  • A culture campaign that described our approach to business as AlaGENIUS. 

Outcome

Employee surveys showed nearly perfect satisfaction with the company following the campaign. Alagen experienced steady growth, improved website engagement, and gained name recognition within targeted groups. The company was heavily pursued by investors and acquired less than 3 years from when branding efforts began.
