NIKE | NBA ANTICIPATION

Objective

Generate awareness and excitement within Nike’s North America Supply Chain for the upcoming takeover of the NBA contract.

Solution

A multi-faceted anticipation campaign. The campaign featured several buzzworthy elements: 

  • NBA-inspired shot clock displays counted down to the launch. They were placed in all distribution centers and key locations at Nike World Headquarters. 
  • Monthly videos were played on distribution center screens and distributed by email to update on progress being made integrating NBA product into Nike’s supply chain. The videos were shot in key locations — including the NBA room within Nike’s Archives, the factory that embroiders team jerseys; and the LA Clippers practice facility — giving exclusive behind-the scenes visibility to Nike employees. 
  • A table tent series featured NBA, WNBA and G-League trivia. 
  • A retrospective of the deep ties between Nike, Converse, and the NBA was integrated into the North America Supply Chain QBR preceding the launch. 

Outcome

The NBA launch was celebrated as a huge success. This campaign contributed to an effort Nike internally recognized with a highly-coveted Maxim award.
